In order to right the ship, it looks like we’re gonna need to over-compensate. In potentially major ways. Things are changing fast, and we must be a part of it.
Perhaps city mayors should stand up to the Alt Right to say “No, you don’t get a permit for your rally. This is no longer a Freedom of Speech issue. You violated your right to free speech when you threatened to hurt, maim, kill. NO.”
Maybe both sides, on so many issues, should STAND DOWN and shut up. We need to get those of us willing and able to discuss and organize. We the people probably need to lead our leaders in getting our collective shit together. There were bumperstickers…. remember these?

Still applicable today, as if we’re back in the 1980s!! I must say I totally resent that we must live through, AGAIN, a difficult time during which we worry about recession, women’s rights, assholes in gov’t, too much disparity between rich and poor, religious right craziness, even “it’s all video games’ fault!” AGAIN. This cycle has gone on a few times in my life — ENOUGH!!
We need CHANGE. And I believe strongly that “Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it” as George Santayana said.
